During its monthly board meeting on Monday, the Cleveland City Board of Education approved the budget for the 2024-2025 school year. Notably, this budget includes a 5% pay increase for all full-time staff members within Cleveland City Schools.

It comes just a year after the Board of Education allocated an additional $2.4 million to enact pay raises across the board for full-time employees, along with elevating the starting teacher salary to $50,000 in 2023. Now, the starting teacher salary will be $52,500 for the start of the 2024-2025 school year.

Furthermore, the approved budget for the 2024-2025 fiscal year encompasses an elevation in the hourly rate for bus drivers, as well as the creation of additional positions to accommodate growing class sizes.

"Ensuring competitive compensation and adequate support for our dedicated staff remains a top priority," stated Interim Director of Schools Kelly Kiser. "With this budget, we affirm our commitment to valuing the hard work and dedication of our educators while also addressing the needs of our expanding student population."
