Jack Duncan, a graduate of Cleveland High School's Class of 2020, has been honored as one of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville's Torchbearers, a recognition reserved for the university's top-performing students. During his time at Cleveland High School, Jack was actively involved in Model UN, the tennis team, and served as a peer tutor for ESL students. He held leadership positions in organizations such as the National Honor Society, Beta Club, and Anchor Club, showcasing his commitment to academics and community service.
Reflecting on his achievement, Duncan stated, "I feel very honored to have received this award. The core idea of the Torchbearer Award is that the recipient has been a leader in a way that allows others to thrive, and it is incredibly meaningful to be considered someone who has left that kind of impact on UT. I am so grateful for all of the teachers in Cleveland City Schools who inspired my love of learning, many of whom are kind enough to still keep up with me and have supported me even after I graduated from Cleveland High School."
At the University of Tennessee, Duncan has continued to excel, earning recognition as a Haslam Leadership Scholar, Peyton Manning Scholar, and Baker Scholar. He represented the university at a U.S.-Japan roundtable in Washington, D.C., and contributed significantly to various research projects. His dedication to public service was evident through internships and involvement in campus leadership roles.
