More than 400 students graduated from Cleveland High School Friday

Cleveland High School proudly announces the successful graduation of the Class of 2023. With 426 talented and accomplished students receiving their diplomas, the event marked a significant milestone in their lives and honored their exceptional achievements throughout their high school journey. Nearly 60% of the graduating class achieved a 3.0 GPA or higher. 

The Class of 2023's academic achievements were nothing short of extraordinary. Among the notable accomplishments, 33 seniors were bestowed with the distinguished title of Graduates of Distinction, which is the largest group Cleveland High School has ever had. These exceptional individuals maintained a 4.0 GPA while taking twelve or more honors classes.

Furthermore, 71 seniors were recognized as Raider Scholar Honor graduates. These scholars achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher while successfully completing twelve or more honors classes and at least two Advanced Placement (AP) courses. 

The Class of 2023 also boasted an impressive number of Advanced Placement scholars. Ten seniors achieved the distinction of being AP Scholars by scoring 3 or higher on three or more AP exams. Three seniors were honored as AP Scholars with Honors for receiving a score of 3.25 on all AP exams and earning a score of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. Furthermore, one senior received the title of AP Scholar with Distinction, achieving a grade of 3.5 or higher on all AP exams taken and scoring 3 or higher on five or more of these exams.

Bailey Johnson, a TVEC Early College graduate, added to the Class of 2023's remarkable achievements by being named a National Merit Finalist this year. 

Moreover, the Class of 2023 showcased their commitment to higher education by boasting an impressive cohort of graduates from Cleveland State Community College through the TN Valley Early College Program. Nine seniors successfully obtained their Associate Degrees before graduating high school, demonstrating their ambition and determination to excel academically.

Ten seniors graduated with an ACT score of 31 or higher, with Belle White achieving a remarkable score of 35 out of a possible 36. Belle's exceptional achievement earned her the "State Distinction" recognition for her outstanding performance on the ACT.

Furthermore, 33 students from the graduating class distinguished themselves by earning "State Distinction" for completing 12 or more semester hours of transcripted dual enrollment credit, highlighting their dedication to academics beyond the traditional high school curriculum.

During this ceremony, the Cleveland High School community took a moment to pay tribute to the late Grayson Michael Moser, a beloved member of the Class of 2023 who passed away during his sophomore year. Grayson's family was present to join in the celebration, and a memorial chair was placed in his graduation spot. Additionally, the Class of 2023 presented the school with a wooden bench, ensuring that Grayson's memory will forever resonate within the campus.
